I think the main reason I read is because for the time I'm reading I can go into another world. I don't have to worry about the problems around me because I am concentrated on the characters in the book. It kind of makes me feel like I am meeting new people and learning everything about them within 300-400 pages. I like the feeling of knowing I can just sit down and get lost in a good book for a couple hours. It mostly relaxes me. I mainly enjoy reading books that I can relate to because I like to see the different ways someone reacts to a situation I may have been through. Reading just mostly entertains me and never stops because by the time I'm ready to move on to something new I am done with the book and I can start reading a different book. I hated reading up until about sophomore year but then I guess I finally found the style of reading I like and now whenever I find a good book, I can't stop reading it. For example, I am already done with the first novel we have to read for this class because I read The Hunger Games and it was so good that I was up until 3:30 A.M. finishing it on Wednesday night.

DeleteI know what you mean. I also didn't like reading until High School and now I love to read. I just started Hunger Games and it's great!
ReplyDeleteWow: "I was up until 3:30 A.M. finishing it on Wednesday night." I guess that's when you know the author's done a good job. I also liked this description of why some books are good: "It kind of makes me feel like I am meeting new people and learning everything about them within 300-400 pages."
